FAQ’s About Save The Date Cards
-
What should I include on my Save The Date?
+Save The Dates are the first part of any wedding invitation suite. The first look that guests will get into your wedding. While the wedding invitation is seen as the centerpiece of your invitation suite, the Save The Date is arguably more important.
With that being said, it’s important to get the information correct. While there are no formal requirements you need to follow, it makes sense to include your names and your wedding date. Furthermore, include a way for couples to contact you should they have any questions or concerns.
While many couples opt to include details such as venues, locations, timings etc, for us, providing you aren’t doing anything too crazy with your location, save the bulk of the details for your invitation and enclosure cards.
To add your own personal touch to your Save The Date card, you could think of a funny phrase or something alternative to “Save The Date”. We love ideas such as “Tom asked Lanty and she said yes”, or “25th June, be there or be square”. Try to customize your design to your personality and the theme of your wedding day.

When Should Save The Dates Be Sent Out?
+When it comes to wedding planning it’s important to plan ahead and schedule all the different tasks accordingly. Sending out your Save The Dates and wedding invitations is no different.
You need to ensure you give your guests time to reply as well as allowing plenty of time to ensure they haven't booked anything in already. The last thing you want is your maid of honor not being able to make your day due to a spontaneous flight ticket purchase to travel Europe.
So when? 6-12 months prior to your wedding date. That being said, the earlier the better. Booked your wedding venue? Well leave it a week or so and get them sent out.
Finally, like we’ve mentioned before, if you are planning something particularly unique for your wedding day such as a destination wedding, try to plan everything just that little bit earlier. Guests struggling to book flights and accommodation is a sure fire way to wedding planning stress.

How Much Should I Spend on Save The Dates?
+When anybody asks “How much should I spend on my wedding?”, our answer is always the same. Spend the amount you are comfortable with spending. We completely understand that your wedding day can be expensive but with that being said, remember, you only do this once.
When it comes to paper goods and wedding stationery, your wedding invites will always be the most important part, therefore you should focus your spend there. Our Save The Dates are usually quite a bit more affordable than our invitations as we like to take our couples budget into consideration. You can use your wedding invitation in photos, even get them framed and saved as a keepsake. Your Save The Dates often get pushed to the side once the wedding invitations are sent out.
For Save The Date cards you can expect to spend between $1.00-$2.00 per item. Obviously, the more guests you invite, the more you can expect to pay, although the price per item will likely decrease.
-
Is It Cheaper to Make My Own Save The Dates?
+In truth, probably not… Ok ok, we get the funny looks! “Of course you would say that, you sell Save The Dates!” While you may be able to reduce your costs slightly, when you take into consideration time, software to create your own design plus of course the inevitable battle with the printer, it's likely to come out pretty close. In addition, paper and ink is actually quite a bit more expensive than you imagine.
When you choose Story Amour to create your wedding suite, you can rely on the highest quality of paper, printed using professional printers, finished to the highest of standards and of course, all designed and created by specialists with over 10 years experience in the wedding industry. We are experts in creating dream wedding stationery for all our couples. Spend both your money and your time wisely when it comes to creating your dream wedding day.

How Far in Advance Should I Order?
+Customer service is something we pride ourselves on. It’s one of the main reasons that our turnaround time is much quicker than many Save The Date suppliers. Once you have ordered your Save The Dates, our design team will get straight to work in order to send over your design proof. This ensures there are no mistakes in your items and reduces the possibility for any hold ups in the future.
Remember that both ordering and sending your Save The Dates out requires multiple parties all coming together. While we guarantee everything at our end, you will also have to rely on the postage and shipping in your local area, and the local area to your invitees. Always allowing plenty of time helps to avoid any last-minute stresses that can impact your wedding planning enjoyment.
We recommend ordering your Save The Dates at least 6-8 weeks prior to wanting your guests to receive them. This should allow enough time to receive your prints from us as well as enough time to send to your guests. That being said, you will also need to account for address writing on your envelopes.
-

In addition, we take the same approach to customer service. A real person is always available to talk to. Ready to help you with any design or wedding related questions you may have. -
How Should I Address Save The Dates?
+Unlike your wedding invitations, you have a little bit more flexibility when it comes to addressing your Save The Dates. First and foremost, you don’t actually have to include any names on the card itself. You will of course have to include a name on the envelope and if you want to be a little more formal, you can of course include full names such as “Mr. and Mrs. A. Smith.”
For us, the Save The Date is an opportunity to be a little more friendly and casual. If you are looking to keep to the traditional, save it for the wedding invitations. The primary purpose of the Save The Date is just to let your wedding guests know that you are getting married and have set a date. You can lay out the formal requirements in your wedding invitations.
-
Can You Rush My Order?
+We don't offer rush orders, however fear not, once your order is processed you will be contacted almost immediately. If you don’t hear from us in 12 hours, please send a message directly to [email protected].
Once we have reached out, we will begin the design and print process while liaising with you along the way. Most of the time, but depending on your number of items you order, your design will be printed and shipped within 48 hours. If you have a particularly large order, it may take us a little longer.
If you are working to a particularly strict and short deadline, please place your order and send an email to [email protected] with your order number. Let us know your situation and we will endeavor to help where possible.
-
What If My Wedding Date Changes?
+Don’t panic! That's the most important part. There is no point in adding any undue stress to your wedding planning journey. Depending on what stage you are at, you can always find a solution.
If you haven’t yet received your order from us, get in contact as quickly as possible and we can see whether it's already been printed. If not, we can go about making the necessary changes.
Unfortunately, if you have already received your Save The Dates from us, there is not much we can do. That being said, get in touch and we can have a talk to see what we can offer.
-
What Is The Most Popular Save The Date Size?
+We offer a wide range of Save The Date sizes from 5x7 inches to the smaller 4.25x6 inches. Some of our designs are even 6x8 inches however this tends to be more rare.
Most couples opt for a 4.25x6 inch Save The Date and a 5x7 inch wedding invitation. These are generally considered the standard sizes.
This little variance in size can really complete your wedding invitation suite in a nice fashion. The bigger 5x7 wedding invite allows for more detail to be included while the smaller Save The Date is perfect for letting your guests know you are getting married.
-
How Many Save The Dates Should I Order?
+It might surprise you that you don't have to order Save The Dates for all your wedding guests. A lot of the guests will be part of a family, or a couple that lives together. You don’t need to send out invites or Save The Dates to all your guests, just all the households.
Once you have made a list of guests, split them into households to know how many prints to order. Once you have a number, we would always recommend ordering 10-15% more. For example, if you have 120 guests, 60 households, order around 70 Save The Date prints. This allows for any that get lost in the post plus any additional you need to send out. Whether that’s replacement guests for the ones that can’t attend or any guests you forget from your original list.
